About Sarah Scahill

I have been every person
in the room. That changes
everything.

Sarah Scahill — ExecRN
Who I Am

The intersection
nobody else occupies.

I am a Registered Nurse, HR professional, CIINDE Certified Holistic Nurse Coach & Consultant, and Certified Disability Management Professional. I have been the bedside nurse. The case manager. The HR leader navigating the space between policy and people. The one burning out — and the one who rebuilt.

My work sits at an intersection that almost no one else occupies: clinical nursing science, labour relations, organizational psychology, and the biology of human performance. That combination is not accidental. It is the result of progressive experience across every level of complex, unionized, public-sector environments.

I built ExecRN — and am building NervePoint. — because I kept watching brilliant, caring people get destroyed by systems that were never designed with human biology in mind, and watching organizations pay for it in ways they hadn't yet connected to the root cause.

Professional scope: ExecRN provides business consulting informed by clinical, HR, and organizational expertise. Sarah holds active RN registration with CRNA. Services that may constitute holistic nurse coaching or health-related practice are available to clients in Alberta. HR and organizational consulting services are available to clients across Canada.
The Path Here

Every role taught me something
the next one needed.

2010 — 2020
Licensed Practical Nurse → Registered Nurse
Alberta Health Services · Medicine Hat, Alberta
Nearly a decade at the bedside — LPN, Graduate Nurse, then RN. The foundation of everything. I learned what it costs to care for other people, what it feels like when a system is asking more than a human body can sustain, and what it looks like when colleagues who were built for this work begin to disappear under the weight of a system that wasn't built for them.
2015 — 2018
Ability Advisor
Alberta Health Services · Medicine Hat, Alberta
The pivot from clinical care to organizational health. Disability management, return-to-work, union relations — I began to see the systemic patterns behind individual struggle. This role deepened my disability management expertise and gave me a practical understanding of accommodation, complex reintegration, and what it takes to support people through workplace injury with both competence and compassion.
2018 — Present
HR Strategy · Labour Relations · Disability Management
Public School Board · Medicine Hat, Alberta
Seven-plus years leading workforce health in a large, complex, unionized public sector environment. Collective agreement administration, grievance management, duty to accommodate, psychological health and safety, attendance strategy, and the full spectrum of HR leadership. This is where policy meets people — and where I learned what it costs when those two things are misaligned.
2022 — 2024
Regulatory Committee Representative — Registration
College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Governance at the regulatory level — contributing to decisions about nursing practice standards, registration, and public safety for Alberta's 40,000+ registered nurses. This work deepened my understanding of professional accountability, ethics, and the governance structures that shape healthcare delivery.
2023 — 2024
Commissioner → Chair
Medicine Hat Police Commission · Medicine Hat, Alberta
Board governance at the civic level — leading civilian oversight of policing in Medicine Hat. The experience of chairing a quasi-judicial board, managing complex stakeholder dynamics, and making decisions with significant community impact deepened my governance advisory practice considerably.
2023 — Present
Founder
ExecRN Integrative Health Solutions
The integration of everything. ExecRN exists because no single role or credential prepared me for all of it — it took all of them together. The clinical lens. The HR expertise. The governance experience. The personal experience of navigating the very pressures I now help organizations address. This work is the gaps I found in the system — made into a practice.
2024 — Present
Councillor
College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Elected to Council — the governing body of CRNA, responsible for regulatory leadership for nursing in Alberta. A continuation of the governance work and a commitment to shaping the systems that affect nurses' professional lives and the safety of the public they serve.
2026 — Coming
Founder
NervePoint. · nervepoint.ca
A digital platform delivering evidence-informed nervous system regulation tools and psychosocial health intelligence — for individuals in high-demand roles, and for organizations ready to measure what they've never been able to measure before. The Organizational Intelligence Suite gives employers real aggregate psychosocial health data, architecturally protected at the individual level, so the data is actually honest. Built from the gaps I couldn't close any other way.

Philosophy
The organizations paying the highest price for burnout are the ones most convinced they don't have a burnout problem.
Sarah Scahill · ExecRN
01
Biology is not optional in leadership.
The human nervous system does not take a day off because the board meeting is today. Leadership is a physical act. Treating it as purely cognitive is the fundamental design error behind most workforce sustainability failures.
02
Burnout is a systems problem, not a people problem.
Four decades of psychosocial research are unambiguous. When good people struggle, examine the six organizational conditions first. Individual resilience interventions without structural change are expensive distractions.
03
Compassion and defensibility are not opposites.
The best HR decisions are both humanly dignified and legislatively sound. My practice holds both simultaneously — because your people deserve the first, and your organization requires the second.
04
Evidence is not optional in wellness.
Every tool and strategy I use has a published evidence base. I will show you the research. Wellness that cannot point to its evidence base is not wellness — it is hope with a logo.

Beyond the Credentials

The human behind the work.

I live and work in Medicine Hat, Alberta — Canada's sunniest city, with quick commutes and a close-knit community. It's a place that grounds you. It's also a place where the ceiling on professional advancement is real, which is exactly what motivated me to build something that reaches further than geography.

I built ExecRN because the gaps I encountered in organizations — between what we know about human biology and what we ask human beings to do at work — couldn't be closed by existing services. And I am building NervePoint. because the tools that individuals and organizations need to actually measure and address psychosocial health have never existed in the form they need to.

Both ventures exist because of the system I was inside for over a decade. The gaps I found became the work.
